Our service

What we do,and why we do itthis way.

Print traffic is a trade of its own. We have done it for years, built what we were missing, and are happy to share that with others who do the same work.

Who we are

We’ve sat in your chair.

We have worked at film festivals for years. At some point we started building what we were missing. That became Filmfetch. The upside: we know exactly what goes wrong, what is slow, and what keeps you awake at night in the week before the opening.

In ten points

What we stand for

Below we explain what we mean, point by point.

From the trade

01

We do print traffic ourselves

Born in practice, not in an office.

Filmfetch wasn’t dreamt up in an office by developers. It was thought up by people who checked DCPs, kept track of KDMs and drove to the cinema at six in the morning to check everything still worked. We still do that work, at every film festival, all over again.

Ingest checked, all KDMs valid until 23:30. The opening film is ready.

Great. Then I’ll get a bit more sleep before the opening.

02

A platform we use every day ourselves

Tested in practice, not in a demo.

We built Filmfetch for ourselves first. Because we work with it every day, we are the first to notice when something isn’t running smoothly. And then we fix it. You get a platform that has been tested in practice, not in a demo.

03

For the people who actually run it

Technicians, PT managers, programmers.

The technicians, the print traffic managers, the programme staff who are still checking a KDM at three in the morning. We build for your daily work. Not for a sales pitch.

Keeping watch and stepping in

04

You see everything, we keep an eye on it

With every upload and download.

You follow every upload and download live on the platform. Meanwhile our systems and our team keep an eye on every transfer. If something gets stuck, you hear about it straight away. From someone in the trade, not from an error code.

05

You decide how much we step in

Different for each edition, if you like.

One film festival prefers to work on its own on the platform and only calls us when something needs looking into. Another wants extra support around the opening, for example to keep watch over deliveries or to sort out rejected files. If filmmakers have questions about their upload, we help them directly via the chat, so your team doesn’t lose time on it. And if you don’t have your own print traffic team, we step in. You choose, edition by edition.

06

For filmmakers and distributors too

The same infrastructure, the same trust.

The filmmaker who sends their DCP to seven film festivals without uploading it seven times. The sales agent with forty titles. The distributor delivering to cinemas. You don’t have to be a specialist to get it right. We help you get started and think along with you.

Technical innovation

07

Your workflow comes first, not our system

We adapt, not you.

Most software asks you to change your process. We do it the other way round. Links to your own database, separate submission portals, your own delivery routes: if it fits the way you work, we build it.

08

Doesn’t it exist yet? Then we make it

Asked for, built.

An uploader that puts films straight onto YouTube. A link with Fiona. A viewing platform in your own website. An uploader that turns slides into a DCP. All requests from customers, all built. If something is useful for others, everyone gets it.

09

We fetch every film, wherever it is

One upload and download service, for external platforms too.

Filmmakers upload their film directly to us, or send a link to an external platform. We download every film, from those external platforms too, so everything arrives in one place through our upload and download service. After that every film takes the same route to the screen. Checked, tested and monitored. No links you have to fetch yourself, no exceptions you have to keep track of separately.

Dutch, European, worldwide

10

From Utrecht, for the whole world

European servers, working worldwide.

We are a Dutch company, our servers are in Europe and we developed our technology ourselves. That is a deliberate choice: it keeps us in control and keeps our platform secure and stable, whatever happens in the world. At the same time we work worldwide. Films come in from every corner of the world and go to screens all over Europe and beyond. Where needed, we switch flexibly between servers in different places around the world.

Three ways of working

You choose how we work together.

Whatever suits your team, your edition, your moment. You can switch from one edition to the next.

On your own

Your team works on the platform itself: submissions, QC, KDMs and deliveries. We keep the infrastructure running and are there when something needs looking into.

For: film festivals with their own print traffic team.

With extra support

You keep the overview and stay in charge. Around the opening we step in where it takes time: sorting out rejected files, keeping watch over deliveries, and helping filmmakers via the chat when they have questions about their upload.

For: most film festivals, especially around the opening.

Full support

No print traffic team of your own? Then we step in, from the first submission to the last screening. You have one overview and one point of contact, and the certainty that everything is on the screen on time.

For: film festivals without their own technical staff, filmmakers, distributors and sales agents.
